Mysuru: Mahabodhi School emerged as the overall champion of the Referee Cup, a two-day inter-school football tournament organised by the Mysuru District Football Referee’s Association at the University of Mysore Football Ground.
The tournament provided school-level football players with an opportunity to compete against teams from different educational institutions in Mysuru. The competition featured separate Under-14 and Under-16 categories, with teams battling through the tournament for a place in the finals.
In the U-14 final, Mahabodhi School produced a convincing performance and defeated NPS 3-0 to claim the championship. The school’s U-16 team also performed strongly and defeated HUDA Public School 2-0 in the U-16 final.
Winning both age-group finals made the tournament particularly successful for Mahabodhi School and highlighted the strength of its school football programme. The matches also provided young players with valuable competitive experience and encouraged greater participation in football at the school level.
The trophies for the winners and runners-up were distributed by former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev. Officials and members of the Mysuru District Football Referee’s Association, senior football players and other sports personalities were present during the event.
The Referee Cup is an important platform for encouraging school-level football in Mysuru and identifying young players who can potentially progress to higher levels of competition.
