A murder case came to light in Mysuru after a 64-year-old man surrendered at Alanahalli Police Station and allegedly confessed to killing a woman with whom he had been living. The deceased was identified as Jyothi, 40, a native of Agasanapura village in Mandya district. Police said she had been living with the accused, Siddaraju, at a rented house in Ashraya Layout on Bannur Road in Mysuru. According to the preliminary investigation, the couple had reportedly been experiencing frequent arguments in recent months. Police suspect that a quarrel occurred on the night of July 13, after which Siddaraju allegedly smothered Jyothi while she was asleep and left the house. The incident remained undetected for nearly three weeks because the house stayed locked. The case surfaced when the accused eventually went to the Alanahalli Police Station and surrendered. Police subsequently began an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and gather further evidence.
